MYSTERY LIMA PILLAR

I have just acquired a 1766 Lima 8R Pillar (single dot on mintmarks).  Reference to this coin would be similar to Lima 66-1-JM-3

This is the reference coin.
However, what is so mysterious or strange to this coin is that instead of a 4-petal rosette on top of the assayer mark "JM", it is a dot.  A dot that is similar to that of post-1732 Mexico 8-Reales Pillar.  I have examined the whole coin and it seemed to be authentic.   However, I have scanned the KM Catalog, and other auction catalogs of Superior, Stacks, Bonhams, etc, there is no reference or hint about this coin.

THIS IS MY MYSTERY LIMA 1766 8-REALES COIN.

I examined the the dot portion and here are my observations and possible explanations :

1.  The coin is repaired piece where the rosette was replaced with a dot. However, their is no damage around the dot, and if so the worksmanship was very superb.

2. The petal of the rosette was scrapped. I don't know why. There seemed to a shadow mark just around the dot.

3. Somebody suggested that it might be a die variation.  I need info on   these area.

4. What do you think? Do you know more about this coin?
